By now, even if you haven’t watched the Friends reunion for yourself, you’ll no doubt have heard that it was emotional, nostalgic and full of famous faces like Justin Bieber, David Beckham and Cindy Crawford.
Was Lady Gaga at the Friends reunion, you ask? Why, yes. Yes, she was.
The Grammy-winner joined Lisa Kudrow for one of the event’s most memorable moments, as the pair performed a show-stopping rendition of Smelly Cat from the couch at Central Perk.
Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay in the long-running series, began the catchy tune by herself before Gaga, dressed as Buffay appeared, also toting her guitar.
“I love Smelly Cat — it’s one of my favourite songs,” the Rain on Me singer says. “You mind if I take Smelly Cat for a spin?”
And take it for a spin she does, bringing all of her Gaga glory to the tune for a rollicking duet with Kudrow until a gospel choir (that sounds remarkably like the backup singers from The One Where Eddie Moves In when Phoebe tried to record the track professionally) enters the cafe and makes everyone’s dreams come true.
“That was not bad. It was really, really good,” Kudrow said when they had concluded their duet, before jokingly muttering: “I still think it’s better when it’s just me.”
