Your living room has been living up to its name lately. In putting your sofa to work while Zooming into meetings from the couch and snoozing on it during your lunch break, you may have uncovered certain uncomfortable spots you can no longer ignore.
Thankfully, Koala — makers of the world’s comfiest and most convenient mattress — has dropped three new sofas and three new armchairs in its furniture range to help jazz up your lounge room and increase the livability of the home’s most important space.
First up, the Modern Sofa (pictured above). It’s designed to suit any home size and configuration with three and four-and-a-half-seater options, taking into account corners and an additional chaise seat for an optimal recline. The Modern sofa comes in a chic steel grey, plus a warmer beige shade, and starts from $1450.
Of the modular design, Demetre Tryfiatis, design manager, says: “We all have different dreams and our dream homes are no different. As we expand and grow into our ideal homes, it makes sense to have a sofa that can grow with us and fit within our lives as we live them. The modular nature of this sofa gives the freedom to configure to suit your needs so you can stretch out, curl up, with your partner, kids, friends, family and fur-babies.”
The Coastal Sofa is another sure-fire winner. Inspired by the “salty sea spray of Byron Bay” the sleek piece comes in a sea blue and a shade called Milk Bar, which at this stage, we imagine to be a creamy taupe. A three-seater starts at $1450, but you can also add an ottoman or armchair to make a full lounge suite.
“For a home where relaxing and lounging are your main events, this sofa has been developed with you in mind,” Tryfiatis says of the design. “The proportions have been pulled low, deep and wide to ensure that whatever position you sit in, is the right position to stretch out and sink in.”
The third and final sofa for the latest range is the Compact Sofa ($1000). This one does what it says on the box and fits neatly into tighter, smaller spaces. It’s light on its feet with an airy underside but does not compromise on comfort.
Tryfiatis says: “Focusing on the contemporary apartment, this sofa offers maximum comfort within a compact space. The upholstery is exceptionally soft to the touch in contrast to its tight sleek form creating a pared-back look, which smuggles in a luxurious finish and feel.”
The new Koala living room range also includes three armchairs, one of which is available to purchase right now: the Timber Chair.
In a Mid-Century-inspired burnt orange shade, plus a more modern grey, the timber-framed piece is the perfect accompaniment to a larger lounge suite, or makes for the ideal statement chair for a reading nook or corner.
It’s also $550, making it one of the brand’s most affordable pieces.
Like everything in the Koala range, the new sofas and armchairs arrive at your door with fast four-hour delivery, and boast a 120-night trial period.
Even better, the purchasing of a new living room piece means Koala will symbolically adopt a Green Sea Turtle through the brand’s long-standing partnership with WWF-Australia.
Right now, the Modern Sofa, Compact Sofa and Timber Armchair and ready and waiting on the Koala online store. The Coastal Sofa, and two additional armchairs — the Everyday Chair and High Arm Chair — will drop online on August 31.
