John Travolta and Olivia Newton John’s Grease Reunion 40 Years On

Grease

Grease is still the word – forty-one years later.

And for the film’s stars, John Travolta, 65, and Olivia Newton John, 71, they proved they still go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong.

Over the weekend, Travolta (Danny Zuko) and Newton John (Sandy) reunited for a sing-along of the hit 1978 film in Florida, with the two lead stars also involved in a #MeetnGrease Q&A session.

Seen for the first time in their unforgettable costumes since filming, both actors took to their individual Instagram’s, sharing the iconic moment with fans.

“First time in costume since we made the movie! So excited,” Newton John captioned her post, while Travolta said: “#Grease is still the word”, accompanied by a series of photos and videos from the night.

Then, the following day, Travolta shared another video sending fans into a frenzy.

The reunion comes just days after a fan, who purchased Newton-John’s infamous leather jacket from the movie at a charity auction, presented it back to the actress.

Worth $243,200 USD (approx. $354,000 AUD), the buyer – who considered himself to be ONJ’s number one fan, surprised the Xanadu singer by returning it to its rightful owner.

“This jacket belongs to you and the collective soul of those who love you,” the buyer said. “Those for whom you are the soundtrack of their lives. Its should not sit in a billionaire’s closet for country club bragging rights.

“For this reason I humbly and respectfully return it to its rightful owner, which is you.”

The anonymous buyer, who appeared as a blurred visual on the video screen, gifted her with a pink box and once she realised what was in the box, Newton John screamed: “You’re the best, you’re the best! I’m so grateful. This is the most beautiful present, but mainly it’s your heart that I’m grateful for.”

The item was originally sold for more than double its estimated price with all proceeds going to the  Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research and Wellness Centre in Australia.
