IKEA is known for its affordable, stylish and innovative homewares, so it makes sense that the Swedish brand’s ethos would also be applied to its accessories range. And users on TikTok have picked up on one item, in particular, that’s absolutely nailed that brief: the DRÖMSÄCK bag.
A tote bag-cum-backpack, the product isn’t new, but, after recently starring in several TikTok videos that went viral, has now been flying off the shelves. In fact, the company said since the videos were posted, they’ve seen sales of the bag in Australia increase by up to 10%. In one day alone, the product’s page was viewed more than 20,000 times.
So, why the fanfare? Well, while I personally don’t own the bag, I can completely see its appeal. As I said, it can work as both a shoulder bag or, with its handy top zip, as a backpack. It’s also water-resistant and has multiple compartments, as well as a cardholder and a loop for your keys. Plus, as to be expected from IKEA, a brand known for its focus on sustainability, the bag is made from a whopping 90% of recycled polyester.
And while it’s now sold out now at many IKEA locations in the US, fortunately, it’s still available online (for those in lockdown) or in-store at IKEA here in Australia. You can shop it here. Or, scroll down for three other tote-slack-backpack options.
