I’m going to go ahead and call it: one of the worst parts about gift-wrapping is taking off the price sticker. After one too many times of trying to peel it off, sticker bits getting under my fingernails, half of the sticky residue left on the item, I finally decided to leave the sticker on and Sharpie the price out.
But I always knew it was only a temporary solution. Because really, I was just offloading the problem to my gift recipient. Plus, what if there was a sticker on something I wanted to keep? Then what?
Enter this TikTok hack. This week, in a video appropriately captioned “How did I not know about this?”, user Lexie Byers shared her mum’s hack for how to – what she called – “wax it off”.
“I have a life hack that’s going to blow your mind,” she said. “Well, it blew my mind.”
Lexie went on to explain that after buying a few tumbler cups with stickers on them recently, her mum had introduced her to the hack.
“Anything with a sticker tag, stop peeling it off!” Lexie said. “Grab some tape, get a piece – maybe this big – take your piece and stick half of it onto the tag and rub it so it’s really on there.”
“Make sure to leave a little bit of a tail, then you wax it off. Then you can peel it off and do it all over again. Brilliant.”
The result? The sticker is lifted off clean. It’s a Christmas miracle. Watch it here:
