Who cares that your acceptance letter never arrived by owl (still not over it), because now you have a chance to take matters into your own hands and enrol yourself at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And that’s the real magic.
Hogwarts Is Here is a fan-created platform that allows Potterheads to live out a virtual Hogwarts experience and enrol in a range of online courses.
First, visitors to the site must create their own character, sort themselves into one of the four respective houses, and give themselves a rich backstory — handy for interacting with other ‘students’ on the platform.
You set up a Gringotts account to purchase textbooks, and then finally enrol in courses of which there are seven to choose from: Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against The Dark Arts, Herbology, History Of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration.
In order to graduate into the second year, you have to complete nine lessons within each subject. For all intents and purposes, it is like real school with assignments, tests, and essays.
A volunteer on the platform will grade your work according to the knowledge outlined in the Harry Potter books, films, Pottermore site, and interviews with J.K. Rowling, and give you house points depending on how you did.
If the academic route doesn’t appeal, users of the platform also have the option to sign up under other occupations like a shopkeeper in Diagon Alley or a magical creature expert.
