Less than a two-hour drive from New York City, The Hamptons is best known for 1) being descended upon by millions of city residents over the summer and 2) the chic décor its full-time residents boast in their homes. Think white-painted wood, wicker chairs and tables, and pops of blue everywhere.

Essentially, it’s the aesthetic Gen Z are currently calling ‘coastal grandmother’, a term coined by 26-year-old TikTok creator Lex Nicoleta this year.

“If you love Nancy Meyers movies [think What Women Want, The Holiday and Father of the Bride], coastal vibes, recipes and cooking, Ina Garten [the Barefoot Contessa], cosy interiors and more, there’s a good chance you might be a coastal grandmother,” Nicoleta says in the clip. “And no, you don’t have to be a grandmother to be a coastal grandmother. It’s for anyone and everyone.”
