Reenacting your favourite scenes from the long-running sitcom Friends just became easier, with the launch of a brand new Central Perk LEGO set.
The collectable model, released just in time for the show’s 25th anniversary, was actually created by a fan on the LEGO Ideas hub.
LEGO Ideas is something of a fan forum, where real people can submit plans for consideration from the actual LEGO team once they receive enough support from the community on the hub. If a plan receives 10,000 upvotes, it will be considered for mass production.
The Central Perk set is packed full of authentic details from the show. In addition to the couches and coffee table in which the friends always sat together, there’s the coffee counter with a cash register, a cookie jar, a brick-built coffee machine, heaps of mugs, an umbrella stand at the entrance, and a stage for Phoebe’s performances.
Seven characters come with the set. Of course, we have the show’s main cast: Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, Monica, Joey and Chandler, but since Central Perk is never without Gunther, the coffee shop owner comes with the set, too.
Even better, each character has their own individual items. Ross has a keyboard, Rachel has a tray and coffee cup, Monica gets a muffin, Joey comes with a pizza box, pizza slice and ‘man bag’, Chandler gets a laptop, Phoebe comes with her guitar, and Gunther has a broom.
In total, there are 1,079 pieces in the set, 15 of which are mugs. The set is the ideal present for any Friends fan over 16 — being that the set comes with so many tiny pieces, it’s not really suitable for small children.
Now, all we need is a set of Monica’s apartment and we can pretty much recreate the entire show. Hear that LEGO?
LEGO’s Central Perk set is available to buy online now from Kmart for $75.
