The Final Trailer for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow Has Been Released

Marvel

Marvel Studios has today released the final trailer for action-packed spy thriller Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson.

In the new clip, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow (Johansson) confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises.

“Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broker relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger,” the official synopsis reads.

The new trailer focuses on two parts of Natasha’s past including her life with her family (which makes for some very fun dinner table dynamics) and time in the Red Room — a top-secret Soviet training program. The program, as we already saw in Avengers: Age of Ultron, brainwashes young girls, turning them into assassins and spies.

In this new installment, we are introduced to the Black Widow’s main villain, Taskmaster, the head of the Red Room who is tasked in brainwashing a whole new group of soldiers.

Natasha is forced to team up with her family — specifically her sister Yelena (Florence Pugh) — to take down Taskmaster for good.

While you may not have heard of this particular antagonist, fans of the comics are well-versed in the supervillain and while he/she is a very important character, we have zero idea who is playing them.

This could lead to a very exciting cinematic reveal — meaning there’s another film in the works!

Black Widow is the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh (Little Women) stars as Yelena, David Harbour (Stranger Things) portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) is Melinda.

The official release date for Black Widow has been changed, with more details to come.
