Fit for a Royal or a Roy, This Celeb-Fave Hotel Costs Up to $18k a Night

Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc

If you were online anytime in the last week, you would’ve seen that influencer and Lionel Richie’s youngest daughter, Sofia Richie got married to Elliot Grainge in a tasteful celebration in the South of France. What you might’ve not have known, though, is that her wedding venue, which she reportedly rented out in its entirety, is an exclusive hotel that’s long been a favourite not just for celebrities, but also artists, writers and politicians: Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc.

Located in coastal Antibes, the hotel sits perched on a rocky coastline halfway between St. Tropez and Monaco, overlooking the sparkling Cote D’Azur. It was built in 1869, originally for writers to unwind and seek inspiration.

In 1889, it became a hotel and has since hosted famous families including the Kennedys, Hiltons, Kardashians and Hadids, as well as countless Hollywood A-listers in town to attend the Cannes Film Festival in May, in some of its 118 rooms, set across its 9-hectare property.

The hotel’s cheapest rooms start at USD $1,100 (AUD $1658), while villas like the Eden-Roc Suite, where stars like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have stayed, go for USD $12,000 (AUD $18,087). The penthouse suite features a rooftop terrace with a hot tub, large bedroom with canopy bed and living and dining area.

Guests at Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc can also book tennis lessons on one of the hotel’s five courts, visit the on-site beauty salon or relax in one of the 33 seaside cabanas. The hotel also has fitness, yoga and meditation spaces, and a pool, made by blasting into the rocky cliff. To get around the property, guests can use complimentary electric buggies and bikes.

When guests are feeling peckish, they can head to one of the hotel’s three restaurant, which includes Michelin-star Louroc Restaurant. The terrace of the Eden-Roc restaurant to look out at blue sea beyond has a fish-heavy, Mediterranean-inspired menu.

In April 2023, the hotel launched a spa with Dior, complete with a boutique housing a collection of Christian Dior perfumes, three treatment rooms and an onyx affusion shower room where experts provide hydrotherapy sessions. The spa also has an ice fountain to stimulate and boost blood circulation after a session in the sauna or hammam.
