Easy Ways You Can Earn Qantas Points Without Even Trying

Last month, Qantas announced a new partnership with Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, letting its frequent flyers earn and use points at more than 40 restaurants across Australia. The partnership, though, is just one of the many ways you can now earn Qantas points just by doing things you’d normally do — and besides by flying, of course.

Before we get into what some of those other ways are, though, it’s worth you first checking how many points you currently have and then looking at how many you need for a particular flight or whatever else you’re looking to use them for.

Many airline loyalty members are easily able to collect points but don’t ever end up using them. To avoid this happening, you should look at how many you have and how many you need to make a certain purchase. That way, you can know what you’re working towards.

Once you’ve done that, it’s time to start to working towards that goal. Ahead are some of our favourite ways to earn Qantas frequent flyer points without even trying.

Shop Online Through the E-Store

While, of course, you can earn points from online shopping by paying with your points-earning credit card, you can also earn by going through Qantas Shopping, which has partners including The Iconic, Myer and H&M. Qantas has a points-prompter browser plug-in that you can download for free so whenever you’re on a site that’s associated with its e-store, it’ll alert you to the fact you can earn points by shopping with them.

Shop at Woolworths

There’s the potential to double-dip here — you can earn points both by spending on a points-earn credit card at Woolworths and by scanning your Woolworths Everyday Rewards card, which will give you Qantas points.

Use Qantas’ Wellbeing App

Another way to earn points is to download and use Qantas’ Wellbeing app, which tracks your steps and, depending on the daily or weekly goal you’ve set, awards you points. You can also earn by setting a bedtime and then not touching your phone past that time.

Though the number of points you can earn on the app is minimal, one way to hack it and earn more is to set up a walking challenge with two friends. Whoever wins among the three of you will get even more points.

Fuel Up at BP

Earn points just by fuelling up when you sign up for BP Rewards. Then, when you go to fill up your tank, simply scan your Qantas Frequent Flyer card at the counter to be rewarded with points. You can up to 2 points per litre and 1 point per $1 spent on eligible in-store products,

Switch Your Electricity Provider

If you’re up for switching your gas and electricity provider, consider looking into Red Energy, which will give you Qantas points. It’s free and easy to switch – you simply give the new provider the details on your previous bill and it switches over. You’ll earn 2 points for every $1 spent.

Sign Up to a New Credit Card

One of the best ways to earn loads of points is to sign up for a points-earning credit card (or, if you have one already, remember to use it). Be sure to do your research for the best sign-up offer and, of course, always remember to read the fine print.

Many cards only start charging annual fees after the first year so, if you don’t want to pay it, be sure to cancel before then. Also, many give bonus points if you spend a minimum amount within the first three months of opening it so be sure to time big-ticket purchases for this period.
