Dyson has announced a trio of new vacuums to change the way we clean. Recognising our collective consciousness around cleanliness and air quality amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the technology company has engineered a collection of new vacuums to be the most powerful, intuitive and effective yet.
Dyson’s recent Global Dust Study found 40% of Australians are cleaning their homes more frequently, and yet are still unaware of what actually makes up the debris our vacuums pick up.
‘Dust’ as a blanket term remains a primary concern in the Australian household, but it’s not the only thing we look to suck up during our weekly cleaning sessions. Pet hair, crumbs, allergens, and other microbial life that includes mould, dust mites and their feces, and viruses, exist all around our homes, even when they appear spotless.
But Dyson’s new vacuums can see and sense what we cannot. With laser detect technology that actually illuminates debris invisible to the naked eye, the device promises a deeper clean for your whole home.
The Dyson V15 Detect
The Dyson V15 Detect is engineered to detect hidden debris as small as 10 microns, with an acoustic piezo sensor and hyperdymium motor to generate powerful suction and 5-stage filtration that captures 99.99% of dust particles down to 0.3 microns for a deep clean.
In addition, the Dyson V15 Detect has an integrated diode laser in the cleaner head. Positioned precisely at a 1.5-degree angle, the green laser creates a contrast between dust and the floor, and actually lights up any dust and debris in its path that your own eye wouldn’t normally be able to see.
But the engineers have gone even further to ensure spotless surfaces, and have also integrated an acoustic piezo sensor that actually hears dust and sorts and counts its particles at a rate of 15,000 times a second. The vacuum then relays this information in real-time via the LCD screen at the handle, so you can gather scientific proof of your spotless floors.
“The Dyson V15 Detect is both powerful and intelligent, giving the ultimate reassurance – scientific proof of a healthier, cleaner home,” says James Dyson, chief engineer and founder.
The device also comes with a revolutionary new tool that pet owners and anyone with long hair will surely appreciate. The new anti-tangle Hair Screw Tool is a conical shaped attachment with angled bristles that physically spiral hair off the brush bar and sucks it up into the bin. A second anti-tangle High Torque cleaner head uses 56 polycarbonate teeth that clear hair from the brush.
The new Dyson V15 Detect comes in two models: the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute Extra with HEPA filtration, $1,469, and the Dyson V15 Detect Total Clean, $1,399 (they’re very similar, with the difference being slight in the air filtration). Both are available in Australia from May 27.
Dyson Omni-glide
Perhaps the most fun new innovation from Dyson yet, the Dyson Omni-glide is the brand’s first-ever vacuum for daily spot cleaning. Its omnidirectional fluffy cleaner head has been engineered to glide 360 degrees in all directions – forwards, backwards and even sideways, and in a game-changing first, can lie completely flat to fit easily under furniture.
It’s exceptionally lightweight, with a compact bin and three tools for cleaning high, low, and in the nooks and crannies. It comes with a mini motorised tool to tackle hair and ground-in dirt, a worktop tool and a combination tool. In another first, the cordless tool has one on-off button, rather than a trigger to make maneuvering the vacuum easier.
This cutie is also available on May 27 for $599.
