Season 2 of “Dear…” on Apple TV+ Will Bring Us Even More Big Name Biographies

Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed original series “Dear…”, gives viewers a unique look into the lives of some of the world’s most iconic figures by using letters written by people whose lives have been changed through their work, often through tragic or difficult circumstances. 

Season one of the inventive, and often emotional, series saw Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Yara Shahidi, Stevie Wonder, Aly Raisman, Misty Copeland and even Big Bird receive such letters. 

Now, renewed for a second season and set to debut globally later in 2021, “Dear…” promises even more inspiring stories from some of the world’s most famous faces.

Viola Davis, Academy, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and producer 

Best known for: Incredible performances in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, How to Get Away With Murder, The Help and Fences — just to name a few! Davis is also the first African-American actress to win “The Triple Crown of Acting” (Academy, Emmy and Tony Award.)

Selena Gomez, Multi-Platinum Recording artist, actress and producer

Best known for: Starring in Disney’s The Wizards of Waverly Place before becoming a global pop icon who has sold over seven million albums worldwide. Gomez also served as the executive producer for Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and has offered her activism to the LGBTQIA and Black communities.

Jane Fonda, Two-time Academy Award-winning actor, producer, New York Times Best-Selling Author, and activist 

Best known for: Enjoying a long and successful career in front of, and behind the camera, playing one of the leads in the long-running Netflix sitcom Grace and Frankie and for delivering a rousing speech at the 2021 Golden Globes on the importance of diversity.

Ava DuVernay, Academy and Emmy Award-nominated filmmaker

Best known for: Directing the incredible documentary 13th, which details the way mass incarceration is modern-day slavery, directing Netflix’s When They See Us which won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Limited Series and directing Disney’s book adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time.
