David Jones Launches a Sustainable Shopping Hub for Eco-Conscious Labels

David Jones has launched its new ‘Mindfully Made‘ shopping hub. The platform exists to bring together the department store’s more environmentally friendly labels and brands into one, conscious destination.

Mindfully Made is “dedicated to more meaningful connections with what you wear and use”, David Jones explains of its new platform. “Our inspiring range of sustainable fashion, beauty, home and food means it’s never been easier to shop in line with your values.”

In creating the hub, David Jones outlined five key attributes that brands under the Mindfully Made umbrella needed to support and embody. Brands that feature in the Mindfully Made hub must meet one or more of the sustainability attributes. These include:

Australian-made:
Brands that support our local industry and community by manufacturing right here in Australia.

Sourced with care:
Brands that focus on responsibly sourced materials and mindful processes to minimise environmental impact

Reduce and recycle:
Brands that adopt innovative and conscious ways to upcycle, recycle and reduce waste.

Community-minded:
Brands that focus on supporting communities, supply chain transparency, the welfare of workers and fair working conditions.

Kind to animals:
Brands that use cruelty-free production methods and ingredients that do not harm animals.

“We recognise our responsibility to drive positive change in the industry and are in a unique position to highlight brands making meaningful progress in this space,” David Jones head of sustainability, Eloise Bishop, said in a statement.

“Increasingly, our customers seek greater insight into where and how their favourite brands are manufactured, and Mindfully Made’s objective is to support customers in making informed shopping choices.”

The hub does well to direct shoppers to brands more in line with their own sustainability goals while highlighting others shoppers may know less about, but it also collates valuable information around the David Jones ‘Good Business Journey’.

In addition, the hub brings expert tips for maintaining and caring for clothing with its ‘Care and Repair guide’, brings sustainable gift guides to consumers, and decodes jargon used by brands with ethical positioning.

Head over to Mindfully Made hub now to browse collections from David Jones’ most ethical brands. Currently, you’ll find stunning fashion, homewares and accessories from labels like Bec and Bridge, Grown Alchemist, Outland Denim, Bianca Spender, Levi’s, Veja, KitX, Bassike, The Beauty Chef, Dinosaur Designs, Sarah and Sebastian, and more.
