Score Second-Hand Designer Threads from David Jones’ New Resell Platform

David Jones RELOOP

David Jones has joined the sustainable fashion chat. In celebration of World Earth Day, April 22, the department store announced the integration of re-commerce platform RELOOP to its David Jones website.

Launched in partnership with GlamCorner, the RELOOP integration lets customers resell, rent, recycle and repair their clothes, all with the bigger aim of allowing them to join the sustainable fashion revolution and to choose to shop more consciously.

“We are committed to becoming a global leader in ethical, environmental and climate-concious practices, and as such, champion ongoing partnerships with pioneers in this space,” says Bridget Veals, David Jones General Manager of Womenswear, Footwear and Accessories.

“Through the RELOOP initiative, we hope to educate our customers on renting, resale and donation options whilst providing a seamless solution to make climate-conscious shopping easy. This is another step to show our ongoing commitment to reduce fashion waste and support the transition to the circular economy of the future.”

So, how does it work? Similar to the AirRobe functionality that The ICONIC recently added, the RELOOP service for David Jones lets customers opt-in to resell, rent or donate our their items at a later date. In other words, right before you buy the piece online, you can tick a box saying you want to be able to possibly resell, rent or donate the clothing piece, accessory or handbag on the RELOOP site down the track.

Then, when you do want to sell your item, you can easily do so on RELOOP’s site, following their guidelines to see what they do and don’t accept. If your item works, they’ll send you a RELOOP kit to pack it, and then, once they’ve received it, they’ll clean it, quality check it and get it ready to be uploaded online for resell. And, if your item isn’t found to be in resaleable condition, RELOOP will also give you the option to donate it to not-for-profit organisation ‘Dress for Success’.

“After a decade in the industry, we saw an opportunity to make our circular fashion platform available to empower brands, retailers and individual consumers so that together, we can accelerate the transition towards a more circular and sustainable future,” says Audrey Khaing-Jones, COO and Co-Founder of GlamCorner.

Brands currently on RELOOP include AJE, Bec and Bridge, By Johnny, Camilla and Marc, Faithfull, Ganni, Isabel Marant, Manning Cartell and many more. And the platform ships nationwide. So, what are you waiting for? Get to (conscious) shopping.
