Former Manchester United superstar, David Beckham, is set to be the subject of an upcoming Netflix documentary series.
Appearing alongside his wife, Victoria Beckham a.k.a Posh Spice, we’ll get a glimpse into the lavish life of the Beckham’s, including their children Brooklyn 21, Romeo 18, Cruz, 15, and daughter Harper, nine.
The series is set to explore Beckham’s rise to fame and will include personal family photos and video footage — aiming to recreate the magic that was Michael Jordan’s The Last Dance.
According to Deadline, a camera crew will also follow him as he oversees his business and charity ventures, including his involvement in U.S. soccer team Inter Miami.
So, why David Beckham?
When it comes to football, high fashion and very expensive watches, not many other names spring to mind. In fact, his life story has been of public interest since his debut at United in 1991 at the age of 17.
Quickly becoming one of the most famous faces of European football, Beckham’s career soared, leading him from “Man U” to Preston North End, Real Madrid, Milan, LA Galaxy, Paris Saint-Germain and of course, the England national team — his success in the sport earned him his wife’s most doting nickname for the athlete, “Golden Balls”.
Beckham — alongside his teammates — not only won the English Premier League title six times but is also the first English player to win league titles in four different countries, including England, Spain, the United States and France. Even though he doesn’t play football anymore (after his retirement in May 2013), Beckham’s career is still one of the most famous in the world. Heck, they even made Bend It Like Beckham about him!
Off the field, the father-of-four is also infamous for his good looks and charm, even winning him the title of People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2015.
His marriage to Victoria will also a major drawcard for the docuseries as the former Spice Girl and the footballer have a cult following of their own. Referred to as “Posh and Becks”, the pair were married in July 1999 and have been married for over 21-years. That’s no mean feat!
Fans will also be privy to the lives of their kids who have grown up in the spotlight. Among their many accomplishments, Brooklyn and Romeo have done modelling, have been named among GQ’s best dressed British men and all three boys (including Cruz), have played football at the Arsenal Academy. Talk about overachievers!
The docuseries is sure to be loved by Beckham fans, but Victoria’s adored following and Brooklyn’s teenage admirers will surely love it too.
