Size doesn’t matter for the some 30,000 members of Dinky One, a dating app designed specifically for men with penises on the smaller side of average.
The platform claims there is an increasing pressure on men to “measure up to certain standards, be it body image or penis size”.
“In addition, the internet is packed with false claims and products to increase penis size. Many young men now think that you need a 12-inch penis to satisfy your partner. This is simply not the case and our dating site is here to normalise the situation.”
As of right now, the Dinky One dating platform claims to have over 27,762 members – 71% male, 27% female, and 2% transgender.
In the sign-up process, users are allowed a choice of many gender identities that include non-binary and androgynous. Users also have the option to date anonymously.
“If you think you have a smaller than average penis there’s no need to be embarrassed,” the Dinky One website reads. “At dinkyone.com every man has a below-average penis size. This means anyone you date will be fully aware and you can avoid unnecessary pressure or anxiety.”
While the digital platform is designed for men with smaller penises looking for a short or long-term partner, it’s also a tool to help those who sexually prefer a smaller penis find a compatible fit.
An anonymous female user of the app, age 28, says: “I find sex painful with a man bigger than four inches. I can hardly ask a new potential partner when dating about their size, and that may be exaggerated anyway.”
A second user, aged 42, who goes by the name K, says: “Being a dominant woman, the idea of a man with a small dick really appeals. I don’t want to have him on me, asserting his authority. He should be pleasing me orally or with toys. If he does a good job then I will let him orgasm, but only under my terms.”
According to the NHS, most men’s penises are around 9cm long when flaccid. Previous research has found the average erect penis size to land somewhere around 13cm to 18cm, but there is much variation in between and beyond.
Additional research from the University of Canterbury has found that men think a penis sized at 17.78cm when erect is ideal, when women may actually prefer a 15cm long penis. The study did not take into account other sexual orientations.
