No doubt your Instagram feed is littered with Tassie spam right now as your forward-planning friends (who were lucky enough to make arrangements and book tickets) explore Dark Mofo, which ran from June 16-22 in Hobart.
After living vicariously through videos of the bustling arts scene and pictures of stunning scenery and local cuisine, you’re probably feeling inspired to make the trip to Tasmania yourself. We know we are.
Though flights and accommodation to Australia’s southernmost state can be dear at times, Virgin Australia is helping you get there with some extra cash in your pocket, by taking 30% off fares from all around Australia to Tasmania in its epic ‘Binge on a Tassie’ sale.
Fares are one way and start from $69 and include baggage, seat selection and loyalty points. Tickets do not include a complimentary meal or beverage (other than water, tea or coffee) after Virgin announced it would no longer be handing out onboard snacks in an effort to lower airfares. But that feels worth it to us.
Tassie is so popular right now with Australians that, in addition to the sale fares, the airline is planning to run extra flights to meet demand.
“We’re seeing strong demand for flights to and from Tasmania and so we’ll begin to add more capacity to the market over the next few months with approximately 46,000 additional seats when compared to pre-pandemic levels,” the airline wrote in a press release.
“This is great news for Virgin Australia, our people, and all of the communities in Tasmania that benefit from the tourism economy.”
The sale is on now until midnight on June 28 unless sold out prior. Travel dates span between July 2021 and April 2022, so it’s really up to you as to whether you’d like a brisk summer getaway or a full-on winter escape. Some of the most notable deals include:
— Melbourne to Launceston from $69
— Sydney to Hobart from $95
— Adelaide to Hobart from $139
— Byron to Hobart from $199
— Perth to Launceston from $239
— Hobart to Brisbane from $129
In these wild times, Virgin is allowing flexible changes in case travellers need to change plans. The airline will allow changes or cancellations with travel credit and will waive fees for travel until the end of January 2022.
