PlayStation 5 DualSense Controllers In Black Are Finally Here

Although the white, space-like design of the PlayStation 5 is decidedly chic, fans have been craving an original black controller since it’s release. Black goes with everything, you know?

Now, their wish is being granted. Sony has finally announced a black PlayStation 5 controller, as well as a red one because why not? Titled Midnight Black and Cosmic Red, still in keeping with the space theme, the new DualSense controllers will be launching in early June 2021, with pre-orders already open at select retailers.

In Australia, Midnight Black will be priced at $110, and Cosmic Red will set you back $120. We don’t know why red costs more, as Sony hasn’t realised any specifics, but we’re hoping that these DualSense controllers are easier to find than the PS5 consoles themselves.

The Midnight Black controllers feature two subtly different shades of black, with light grey detailing to reflect how we view space through the night sky. Cosmic Red sports a striking black and red design inspired by the vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos, and perhaps all those mars developments we’ve been seeing.

Beyond the colour differences, both PlayStation 5 controllers are identical and have the same functions as the original white DualSense. Just to refresh your memory, DualSense features haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, plus the larger size, heftier weight and generally aesthetic goals compared to the PS4 DualShock controller.

The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red PS5 DualSense controllers will be available from early June. We’ll keep you posted on where to find them. You can take a closer look at the controllers here.
