The 2022 Billboard Music Awards are here to celebrate another year in iconic, chart-topping hits.

This year, the show was hosted by Sean Diddy Combs, who promised it would be a show “unlike any awards show”.

“I’m bringing the love and setting the frequency at an all-time high,” the rapper turned mogul said in a statement.

“The Billboard Music Awards truly represent the artists and where music is today, so I’m excited to curate the biggest live performances and surprises. The world has to tune in to see.”

Performing at the show are Silk Sonic, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, Miranda Lambert, Florence + The Machine, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, Maxwell, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Oscar nominee Mary J. Blige is also set to be honoured with the Billboard Icon Award.

“My career has been such an incredible and unexpected journey that has included many turns into avenues I never could have imagined like acting, producing, launching businesses and now even my own music festival,” Blige said in a statement last month.

“Through it all, I always one way or another gravitated back to my first love, music,” she continued. “To be recognised in this way at this moment, with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards, is an incredible honour and one that I am truly humbled by.”

With 17 nominations, The Weeknd is leading the nominees for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.

Following him is Doja Cat, who has 14 nominations, and then Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Olivia Rodrigo, who have 13 nods each.

Other notable nominees include Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, The Kid LAROI, Taylor Swift, and BTS.
