Brisbane, the bustling city known for its vibrant food scene, has embraced sushi train culture with open arms. Sushi lovers have various options, from authentic and traditional to inventive and modern.
It’s worth noting Brisbane’s sushi train scene has blossomed in recent years and still has a bit of work to do to catch up with the standards of sushi-train-loving cities like as Sydney and Melbourne. However, Brisbane is certainly doing better than rivals like Adelaide when it comes to the moveable dining option.
The next time you find yourself in the city of bridges, seek out these sushi train experiences.
Ichiban Sushi
West End
‘Ichiban’ translates as ‘number one’ in Japanese, which is a fitting description for the city’s favourite conveyor belt sushi venue.
You won’t find sad-looking dishes zooming by; instead, expect fresh and well-presented plates stacked high. You can also order off the iPad if you want something specific.
The Ichiban Roll with seafood stick, avocado, slice salmon, scallops, and tobiko is a must-try signature dish. In the hot food section, find chicken katsu don, bento boxes, and a range of Udon noodles.
Sushi Edo The Barracks
Brisbane City
Located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, Sushi Edo is a popular sushi train restaurant that never fails to impress.
With its modern and minimalist design, this establishment offers a vast array of freshly made sushi and sashimi dishes that revolve around the restaurant on a conveyor belt. Expect the usual suspects and some inventive ones, like a caterpillar roll and lion king roll with crab meat, seared salmon, and cheese.
The interactive ordering system, where you can request specific dishes via a tablet, adds extra convenience to your dining experience.
Sushi Train
Multiple locations
Sushi Train Australia is always a reliable conveyor belt experience, no matter where you are in the country. More than 15 restaurants are dotted along the Queensland coast, including in and around Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
For those looking for an innercity outpost, look to Greenslopes, Indooroopilly, or Clayfield. The sushi is always fresh, and always good, and, whether you’re in for a quick lunch or catching up with friends over a casual dinner, you just can’t go wrong with the Sushi Train franchise.
Sushi Station
Brisbane Airport
There are very few instances where I will mention an airport restaurant, but Sushi Station in Brisbane Aiport deserves to be on this list.
This contemporary and spacious restaurant boasts an impressive selection of sushi, sashimi, and Japanese-inspired dishes. What sets Sushi Station apart is the option to customize your sushi order by writing your preferences on an order slip. You won’t find inflated airport prices either.
Try the sunrise roll or hot spicy chicken and cream cheese roll if you’re craving a kick.
Wara Sushi
Multiple locations
Wara Sushi is a sushi train with a twist. The conveyor belt is the same, but the dishes are inventive. Think crispy seaweed-wrapped rice balls and corn tempura. There are restaurants plotted around Brisbane, from Newstead to Holmview.
