Bondi Social Cooking School

What’s better than learning to make delicious meals whilst having nibbles and drinks? Doing just that while helping to support the community and those in need.

Bondi Social Cooking School is a new start-up social enterprise providing laid-back, fun and sociable cooking classes with a conscience. Proceeds from all classes go to supporting the community and local charities, while the meals you make go directly to those in need. Organisations that receive the 40-80 meals made in each class include Plates4Mates and the Salvation Army.

Bondi Social Cooking School was started by Our Big Kitchen chef Joseph ‘Joe’ Bekhore and volunteer Danni Bluston. Their passion, creativity and vision led to the idea of providing fun, accessible cooking classes to those who want to meet new people and learn new skills while feeding those who are doing it tough.

A class involves snacks and drinks on arrival plus nibbles throughout, and the chance to meet new people through an interactive cooking class, that’ll teach you to make pasta with step-by-step coaching from Chef Joe.

Classes run on a Sunday in Bondi Junction and start from $85. Book a Bondi Social Cooking School class here.

The Cornersmith Cooking School

Driven by seasonality and a sustainable ethos, wife and husband duo Alex Elliott-Howery and James Grant, have expanded the offering beyond their award-winning café Cornersmith into books, a cooking school and a produce storefront.

Not only that, but the team at Cornersmith will also teach you traditional preserving techniques that are slowly disappearing from modern kitchens.

From relish and bread to pickling and tofu-making, you’ll learn a lot from these skilled instructors, tasting delicious morsels along the way, before taking home everything you make.

Cornersmith workshops vary in theme and start from $120. You can book a Cornersmith Cooking School workshop here.
