The rumours were right, and a second generation of AirPods Pro were announced overnight on Wednesday, September 7 PCT.
Alongside news of a new iPhone 14 range and three new Apple Watches, the company shared that the new earbuds would have better audio and noise-cancelling, improved battery life and one feature we’ve long been waiting for.
“The new AirPods Pro deliver even better sound quality, a more immersive listening experience with Personalised Spatial Audio and transformative audio features like Adaptive Transparency,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new AirPods Pro.

The second generation of AirPods Pro will improved sound and “double” the noise-cancelling of the original AirPods Pro.
With a new Touch control, a light swipe up or down on the AirPods’ stem enables quick volume adjustments. Press the stem to change the music, answer phone calls or make a “Hey Siri” request. The improved, built-in skin-detect sensor will also more accurately turn playback off and on.
Battery life from a single charge is now up from five hours to six, and the case gives you an additional four charges. Helpfully, the case now also has Apple’s Find My feature, meaning it’ll play a sound when you’re trying to locate it, as well as an anchor you can use to attach a lanyard.
