To celebrate the launch of Airbnb Cooking Experiences, the global accommodation site is giving aspiring chefs the chance to win the trip of a lifetime.
The site, which allows travellers the chance to book and encounter the culinary traditions of families in the cities they’re exploring, will send 100 of the world’s best home cooks over to experience a summer of all things delicious in the UNESCO world heritage ancient city of Pollenzo.
Here, they will learn how to refine their family recipes with the help of renowned culinary experts that include the likes of Ugly Delicious star and Momofuku chef and founder, David Chang (and his mum Sherri).
“Home cooking is one of the easiest ways to break down cultural barriers and uncover shared experiences between strangers. I’m honoured to join Airbnb in this search for the world’s best home cooks and I’m excited to support each of their culinary endeavours firsthand alongside one of the best home cooks I know – my mom,” says David Chang.
Chang and his mum will be joined by globally celebrated chefs, professors and sustainability experts, one of which is Italian Grandmother and Grand-daughter duo Nonna Nerina and Chiara, who have been teaching travellers pasta-making on Airbnb for some time now.
Throughout June and July 2020, four five-day courses will be carried out at Slow Food’s University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG)
Home cooks will undertake lessons in gastronomy, food sustainability and entrepreneurship, and afterwards, they will cement their legacy in Airbnb’s very first cookbook, which will be unveiled later next year.
