Mums-to-Be and New Mums: You Need These Pregnancy and Postnatal Tights In Your Life

Iso was illuminating in many regards, though perhaps no learning was more apparent than the joys of wearing activewear to work in our living rooms (not sure how we’re ever going to be able to wear jeans again).

This rings particularly true for expectant mums, who with a growing bump, need a little extra leeway in the pants department, both in lounging around the house and during exercise.

Enter Active Truth. Brisbane mums Stevie and Nadia founded the label in 2016 after failing to find maternity tight that was both comfortable and supportive. Four years on, and their pieces are much loved by influencers and celebrities who sing praise for their ability to withstand life’s hardest workout: growing a tiny human.

“We know that in most cases, staying active while pregnant is good for mum and bub, however, not having access to quality activewear that provides comfort and support is a real barrier to participation.

“We know our tights give pregnant women the confidence to continue being active because they tell us every day,” says Stevie Angel, co-founder of Active Truth.

Active Truth‘s signature compression fabric provides support throughout the entire pregnancy journey — throughout every trimester. The technical design provides support to help prevent aches and pains, while the in-built bump support alleviates pressure on the back, hips and pelvis. What’s more, the fabric is durable and 100% opaque, meaning no peeps of skin when an active mumma moves around.

Zoë Foster Blake was also a fan during her second pregnancy, saying: “Over the bump, with thick, flattering fabric. Bought in first tri and they’re growing happily with me,” but health professionals endorse them too, for both pre and post-natal wear, although they can be worn every day after that.

In fact, Active Truth’s Recovery Full Length Tights are essential for post-birth, thanks to the added support and compression. Compression garments are recommended for new mum’s following childbirth in order to increase circulation to aid healing, reduce swelling and reduce pregnancy-related aches and pains.

These tights were designed in consultation with a women’s healthy physiotherapist to target issues like lower back pain, abdominal muscle separation or weakness and instability of the hips and pelvis post-birth.

The flexible material is also super gentle on c-section scars and the ultra high-waistband provides you with tummy coverage which can come in handy for breastfeeding.

My second pregnancy has been a loooot better than my first. So, I’ve written a pretty boring, novel-length post about it, or more specifically, about pubic/pelvic pain in pregnancy, which messed me up the first time, but didn't this time, thanks to pilates, osteopathy, lots of dull at-home exercises and a spell from a lovely white witch named Brenda. The crux is: I didn’t know pelvic pain was A Thing, and I paid dearly for my ignorance. So: if you are a first time preggo, or know someone who is and who is in pain, please piff them the link in my bio. If you are neither pregnant nor care about this, please have a nuclear-strength margarita and some sushi for all of us who can’t. Many thanks. 🤰🏻🏋🏻‍♀️💪
