Lily Allen has joined the Womanizer team as the brand’s ‘Chief Liberation Officer’. In her new role, Allen is setting out to challenge negative attitudes around female masturbation and foster open, inclusive and sex-positive conversations around pleasure and sexual fulfilment for all.
“Sex toys are still seen as a taboo subject because they are related to masturbation and female pleasure,” Allen says. “Female pleasure in itself is a taboo subject. The only way to make taboo subjects no longer taboo is to speak about them openly, frequently and without shame or guilt.
“I hope that this collaboration will lead to people feel that they can talk more freely about masturbation and if somebody like me can talk openly about it without shame then they might feel inclined to try it out for themselves — a whole new world awaits.”
Allen’s partnership with Womanizer comes as no surprise to anyone who has read her 2018 autobiography, My Thoughts Exactly, in which she speaks about discovering her own sexual pleasure and recommends the Womanizer clitoral stimulator at the toy she “would pick above all the others”.
To celebrate her new role as an ambassador, Allen has designed her very own Womanizer Liberty in a very Lily Allen-esque colour palette of bright orange and pink, available to purchase from today for $149.
The Womanizer Liberty is one of the brand’s most popular models for its compact size and convenient travel capabilities with a protective case included. The toy is water-resistant, has six intensity levels, and uses Womanizer’s patented Pleasure Air Technology, which Allen once said “changed my life”.
As the leaders in pleasure technology, Womanizer is out to close the global masturbation gap, which in Australia has been identified to be 65%. The Australian component of the global survey data found women masturbate just 54 times per year, while men masturbate three times as much — an average of 155 times per year.
With Allen’s help, Womanizer has goals to even the playing field by breaking antiquated taboos and educating people everywhere on the benefits of self-pleasure, which include a strengthened immune system, lower stress levels, better sleep, and even increased life expectancy. For Allen, she hopes to raise her daughters into a world that celebrates pleasure.
“I want to make sure that my daughters grew up in an open-minded society where female sexuality is talked and informed about. I hope that this collaboration will lead to people feel that they can talk more freely about these topics without shame.”
