If you were hoping to see Nigella Lawson walk through the prestigious MasterChef Australia doors this season, don’t hold your breath.

Channel Seven has announced that they’ve snagged Lawson up for the upcoming season of My Kitchen Rules, instead, and Lawson is thrilled to be joining the series.

In a statement, Lawson said that while “going to restaurants can be a treat”, she believes that “the true story of food is told through the cooking we do at home”.

She explained: “To have the chance to champion home cooks and be given the intimate privilege of being invited into people’s homes to eat their food fills me with gratitude and excitement in equal measure!”

Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming season of My Kitchen Rules, which promises to take the series “back to the original recipe — real people from all over the country, cooking real food in their own homes for the superstar judges and their fellow contestants”, according to the latest press release from Seven.

Who Will Be Judging My Kitchen Rules This Year?

Aside from Nigella Lawson, Queen of the Kitchen, Manu Feildel will return to the competition as host and judge of the cooking competition reality series.

Lawson said that she’s “so looking forward to working with Manu”.

“Although he’s a chef and I’m a home cook, the fact is we both just want to eat good food,” she said, adding: “I feel I’ve got a lot to learn from him, but just know we’ll have a lot of fun in the process. I can’t wait!”

In a statement, Manu said that he’s “very excited to be sitting back at the head of the MKR table and even more thrilled to have the lovely Nigella Lawson at [his] side.”

Manu went on to say that they would make “the perfect team” of judges” due to their “years of experience in professional and home kitchens respectively”.

“As lovers of delicious food and a fabulous dinner party, I can promise you we’re also going to have a lot of fun,” he said. “Bring it on!”

Together, Feildel and Lawson will travel around Australia, visiting the homes of talented and passionate home cooks who hope to take out the title of My Kitchen Rules Champion.

As for guest judges, MasterChef Australia alum and food journalist Matt Preston will make an appearance, as will celebrity chefs Colin Fassnidge and Curtis Stone.

When Will My Kitchen Rules Premiere in 2022?

While there’s no official premiere date just yet, Seven has said that we can expect My Kitchen Rules to return “later this year”. We’ll update this post as soon as we know more!
