Keen on some sleek speakers to help set the atmosphere? Perhaps you’ve been eyeing a new pair of go-with-anything work pants? Or maybe you fancy new headphones that’ll help you better concentrate at work?
You might want to hold off on buying those items until Amazon Prime Day, because chances are, you could get them at a serious bargain. We’ll explain.
What Is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is a roughly two-day sale (with the time difference) running on — yep, you guessed it — Amazon. As is usually the case with these big online shopping events, most sales aren’t usually announced beforehand, so you’ll need to wait until the actual day to see what’s on offer. In saying that, though, you can get a good idea of what’ll be discounted based on previous years.
When Is Amazon Prime Day 2022?
Amazon Prime Day 2022 kicks off Tuesday, July 12 at 12am AEST and runs until Wednesday, July 13 at 11:59pm, giving us 48 hours of local deals. Deals from the UK and US will be available on Amazon.com.au through Amazon Global Store until 14 July at 5pm AEST, giving shoppers access to 65 hours of deals.
What Will Be on Sale During Amazon Prime Day?
In terms of tech, save on laptops, phones, headphones and gaming consoles. Wellness-wise, get discounts on beauty, hair care, dental care, vitamins and workout accessories. Clothes-wise, you can shop discounted coats, knitwear, lingerie, swimwear and more. You can even save on your food shop by grabbing pantry food and drink from the online store at slashed prices.
Participating brands will include Apple, Mattel, Bosch, Bose, Garmin, GHD, Instant Pot, Lego, Lenovo, North Face, Nintendo, Oculus and Samsung, according to an official press release. Small and medium local businesses will also feature items in the shopping event including Orbitkey (based in Melbourne), Nakie (based in Brisbane) and the Doggie Balm Co (based in regional Victoria).
“Prime Day 2021 marked the biggest two days for small local businesses on Amazon.com.au at the time and we are excited to be putting them front and centre again through our Shop Local Businesses Store this year,” says Janet Menzies, Country Manager for Amazon Australia.
What Are Some Hacks to Shopping the Deals?
Good question! Here are some hacks to get the most out of the sales:
Sign up to Amazon Prime
For starters, to unlock the deals, you’ll need to sign up to Amazon Prime, which you can do on a 30-day free trial basis (provided you haven’t signed up before). Once you sign up, you’ll not only get access to the deals, but you’ll also get free delivery on local and international Prime eligible items, as well as a subscription to Amazon Original series on Prime Video, which features shows Luxe Listings Sydney, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and The Boys.
After the free trial, you can keep the subscription, paying month-by-month or for a flat year. You can cancel at anytime.
Google Before You Buy
Before buying, check the item’s price at other e-tailers. Just because it’s on sale on Amazon doesn’t mean it’s the lowest price offered.
Buy from Big Brands
Keep an eye out for deals offered by big brands like Apple, Bose and Samsung, as they’ll be some of the best value savings.
Check Amazon Warehouse
The ‘Amazon Warehouse’ section of the site has deals on pre-owned and open-boxed products. Each used product sold on it is thoroughly tested and its condition is outlined in detail on the site. Be sure to check it during Prime Day to see if any of its items’ prices are further slashed.
Create Personalised Deal Alerts
Download the Amazon app, and you can ‘create deal alerts’ so that once Prime Day starts, you’ll receive push notifications about deals on your recently-reviewed items.
