Vegan Beauty Brands for the Conscious Consumer to Shop

Mere

The rise of the conscious consumer, who chooses to spend their dollars on ethical products, has also caused many brands to pivot towards earth-friendly skincare and makeup products.

Many major brands are now completely vegan or offer a large line of vegan products. To be considered 100% vegan, the products must be free from animal products, not tested on animals and no animal products used in the production process, says Vegan Australia.

We’ve rounded up some of our favourite vegan beauty brands who create high-quality makeup and skincare products that are animal-friendly.

MECCA MAX

In August 2018, on the first birthday of the brand, MECCA MAX announced that its line was now fully vegan. The entire MECCA MAX line is vegan and cruelty-free, so you know you’re making an ethical decision when you shop the range of affordable and high-quality product.

Tony & Munro

Tony & Munro is an Australian first-of-its-kind organisation producing fusion cosmetics for men. The products are a blend of skincare and makeup and are all ethically tested, cruelty-free and vegan as well as sulphate and paraben-free. Given that men’s skin is generally oilier and 25% thicker, Tony & Munro offer a three-step regime specifically made with these factors in mind.

Alkira Skincare

Inspired by the Australian landscape, Alkira Skincare products are rich in Australian botanicals including Kakadu Plum, Kangaroo Paw and Davidson Plum. Created by the brother and sister duo behind beauty brand Sukin, Alison Goodger and Simon O’Connor, the pair has created a line that is ethical, cruelty-free, vegan and carbon neutral. Shop the range of creams, oils and cleansers now.

KVD Vegan Beauty

KVD Vegan Beauty says it right in the name. The makeup line, including the famed Tattoo Liner Liquid Eyeliner, was reformulated to be 100% vegan in 2016 without sacrificing the quality the brand is known for. Swap over your makeup products for cruelty-free options with KVD Vegan Beauty.

Bohemian Skin

This local beauty brand prides itself on its 100% vegan and natural products that are made in Australia. Originally formulated with pregnant women in mind, the Bohemian Skin line is gentle enough for you to use through every life stage, including pregnancy. Bohemian Skin’s AHA Enzyme Exfoliant is particularly good thanks to the addition of fruit enzymes and lactic acid, which dissolves dead skin cells and balances oil production.

Andalou Naturals

Known for its range of high-performance natural, organic and cruelty-free skincare, Andalou Naturals has a large selection of vegan goodies. 100% of the range is vegetarian, and over 90 of these products are vegan — only a small handful aren’t due to the addition of beeswax, manuka honey or lactobacillus.

The best-selling Brightening Turmeric + C Enlighten Serum is a particular favourite, as it supports dermal vitality and targets over-exposed surface cells for a tighter and brighter looking complexion.

Bangn Body

For the best vegan body products, you can go past Bangn Body. Formulated with Australian native extracts and locally sourced botanical ingredients, the entire Bangn Body range is 100% vegan as well as natural, organic and cruelty-free, making it particularly perfect for even the most sensitive skin. The whole range is great but we can’t go past the original Firming Lotion, which works to reduce the appearance of redness and bumps while increasing skin circulation and collagen production.

MERE Skincare

This no-fuss, high-performance brand uses natural formulations and ingredients that your skin recognises as its own. The MERE range is 100% vegan and includes ingredients like argan oil, prickly pear oil and sweet almond oil to nourish your skin. The Elemental 360 Cell-Active Face Cream delivers deep hydration and works to even skin tone and it’ll leave your skin looking younger by reducing the signs and lines.
