Looks like Kim Cattral (a.k.a Samantha Jones) is missing out on a HUGE payday for the upcoming Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That.
Because according to Variety, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will all bank a whopping $1 million USD ($1.3 million AUD) per episode for the 10 episode series. For those playing at home, that is approximately $13 million AUD.
All three will not only star but will also serve as executive producers on the series, so it’s no wonder they’re getting a hefty amount.
Due to the buzz and popularity surrounding the project, the women are taking home what’s normal for leading ladies in Hollywood.
In fact, the outlet reports that Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies/The Undoing), Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies/Little Fires Everywhere) and Kerry Washington (Little Fires Everywhere) have all seen similar pay packets when it comes to their respective shows.
The revival, which is titled “And Just Like That…,” will follow Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Charlotte York (Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Nixon) as they navigate love and friendship in their 50s.
Cattrall has not signed on to the project with Parker confirming that there will be a hole without her.
Responding to a fan who said: “Happy to see you back but will miss Kim/Samantha,” Parker replied: “We will too. We loved her so. X.”
Then, putting to bed the rumours that have circled the show for years, she told another: “I don’t dislike her [Cattrall]. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X.”
Sex and the City premiered on June 6, 1998, and concluded on February 22, 2004, with 94 episodes broadcast over six seasons.
Set and filmed in New York City, the show followed the lives of a group of four women—three in their mid-thirties and one in her forties — who, despite their different natures and ever-changing sex lives, remain inseparable and confide in each other.
Following its ending, two feature films, Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010) were produced and a prequel television series commissioned, The Carrie Diaries (2013–14), seeing out only one season.
The Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That, is set for revival in 2022 on US streaming service HBO.
