Hold On To Your Akubras! Russell Coight Is Dropping Into the Jungle

Russell Coight

Well, well, well. If we haven’t already reached peak Australia on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, then things are about to get a whole lot more ‘Strayan.

Russell Coight (the alter ego of Aussie legend, Glenn Robbins) is dropping into the jungle for a visit and we expect it’s going to get a little hectic.

Going in on Thursday, January 7, the campmates are in for a real treat and will learn a few tricks of the trade from the Bush King, when it comes to toughing it out in the Aussie bush.

As the network has said: “Who better to impart outback wisdom than the man, the myth, the legend: Russell Coight.” Too right!

Coight will drop in for a chinwag with hosts Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris, and even though he’ll have zero ideas who any of the celebrities are (he’s an outback man after all), we can be sure that he will be able to demonstrate his best survival guide for dealing with the Aussie wildlife the celebs are sharing camp with.

Comedian Robbins plays Coight, a survival and wildlife expert who charts his disastrous travels through Australia, spreading misinformation and causing accidents on his show, All Aussie Adventures.

The series originally ran on Network Ten from August 5, 2001, to September 29, 2002, and was revived in 2018, 15 years after it originally premiered.

Featuring his intro tagline, “So, what are we waiting for, let’s get cracking on another All Aussie Adventure”, the format of the series was generally the same. He would explain the reason for his travels, which usually involved helping out a “mate” and parodied the adventure genre.

Robbins himself is a fixture on the network as a regular guest (and fan-favourite) on the popular series Have You Been Paying Attention and has also had a varied and successful career as comedian and actor on Kath and Kim.
