One of the first steps when planning an event, like a milestone birthday, wedding or conference, is to decide the venue. You want it to accommodate all guests, be easy to tailor to your specific event and, ideally, have beautiful surroundings.
Park Proxi Gibraltar Bowral is a great option on those fronts. A cruisey 90-minute drive from Sydney in the Southern Highlands, the hotel has 77 rooms and suites, all with floor-to-ceiling windows and some with balconies looking out at the hotel’s 18-hole golf course and lake. It’s also got an indoor pool and hot tub, a gym and a restaurant overlooking the golf course.
So, why else should you book your event at Park Proxi Bowral? We’re making a case for it here.
You Can Tailor the Events’ Rooms to Your Occasion
Whatever size your function is, it’s likely Park Proxi has facilities to suit. Its biggest room is the Gibraltar Ballroom, which can accommodate 250 guests seated and 280 standing. Gibraltar 1 accommodates 140 seated and 120 standing and Gibraltar 2 fits 60 seated and 55 standing.
The hotel also has four different-sized boardrooms, as well as a Gallery room with double-height ceilings, a fireplace and a French-style chandelier. The hotel’s staff will work with you to decide which room best fits you and then tailor it to you.
Also, as of September 1 this year, Park Proxi will offer a food package available in whichever event space you book by Sydney’s Lotus Dining Group. Dishes will include Lotus favourites, plus new items showcasing the Southern Highlands’ produce.
You Can Rent Out the Whole Hotel
You might not be keen to share the hotel and events spaces with others and instead want the hotel’s grounds all to yourself. If that’s the case, you’ll be glad to know it’s possible to rent out the whole hotel. You’ll need to book all 77 rooms, but don’t need to rent all the event spaces. Ah, the sound of silence (or of just your party).
It’s Set in the Countryside
Bowral is the largest town in the Southern Highlands, with award-winning restaurants, cool-climate wineries and boutique shops. Once serving as a rural summer retreat for the wealthy Sydneysiders, today, it’s home to several estates and manor houses.
In the winter, Park Proxi becomes cosy with orange and red leaves falling from trees outside, while in the summer, its golf course lawns are bright green, contrasting against the sky’s bright blue.
It Lets Your Guests Relax
Most events and conferences allow for some free time, and at Park Proxi, guests will have plenty of activities to fill with those hours. At the hotel, they can swim in the indoor pool, play golf on the course or dine at the Observatory Restaurant.
Near the hotel are walking tracks at Gibbergunyah Reserve, Cherry Tree Walk and Mount Gibraltar Reserve and Lookout. Or, if they’d rather soak up some culture, they can visit Ngununggula, Southern Highlands Regional Gallery and Bradman Museum and International Cricket Hall of Fame. Bowral Beekeeping is a five-minute drive away.
It’s Walking Distance From Bowral Town Centre
Park Proxi is a 30-minute walk and a 6-minute drive from the town centre where you’ll find High Street Bowral, Dirty Janes Bowral and Cheese Etc. Food-wise, there’s Veggie Nook and Centennial Vineyards. Let guests make the most of their trip to the event by giving them time to explore.
It’s Easy to Get to Park Proxi
The hotel is a 90-minute drive from Sydney and Canberra, meaning if you’re coming from either of those cities and leave on a Friday after work, you’ll be at Park Proxi in time for dinner. Conveniently, it’s also got free parking out front so you don’t have to waste time circling the hotel to find a spot.
For the guests who don’t have a car, they can take the train from Sydney to Bowral station and then it’s a 26-minute walk or a cheap Uber.
The Hotel Runs Event Specials
Putting on an event can be expensive, but Park Proxi runs deals to help you save. Depending on the date, you can book a dining experience for 15+ guests and then get complimentary boozy hot chocolate and chocolate brownies. Or, again depending on the date, if you book a wedding for over $30,000, you’ll get a complimentary tower of prosecco, a boozy breakfast the next day and a bridal suite upgrade.
