The NSW Government Is Handing Out $100 Vouchers for Sydney City Staycations

You may already have applied and received your Dine and Discover vouchers from the NSW Government, and now, the state is planning to help Sydneysiders and NSW residents explore the city even better, with an overnight staycation in a hotel.

The NSW Government has announced plans to give out 200,000 vouchers with a value of $100 each, for use on hotel accommodation in the Sydney CBD and inner city.

The hotel vouchers are part of an ongoing scheme to reignite live music across the state and support jobs in the accommodation, entertainment, and tourism sectors.

“With international, interstate and business travellers virtually non-existent for the past year, the CBD, and in particular the accommodation industry, has done it tough,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian during the announcement of the package.

“This new program will be in addition to our other stimulus measures such as the Dine and Discover scheme, and will provide a boost to accommodation providers in what is a traditionally very quiet period.”

There’s little information around the vouchers and how we can all get our hands on them, but it’s probable they’ll be available on a first-come, first-served basis, most likely to be used in the winter months when city tourism is typically quieter.

Whether you use your vouchers for a weekend escape or mid-week workation, that’s up to you.

On top of the vouchers, a further $24 million will be spent on an additional package designed to support live music and the arts.

“Everyone has missed live music, the industry is coming out of hibernation, and this package will ensure our much-loved venues are there to host the gigs people want to see as they celebrate NSW emerging from the pandemic,” Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres said during the announcement.

More details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks. We’ll keep you posted.
