9 of the Most Special Restaurants in Sydney for Mother’s Day Lunch

St Siandra

This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, May 12, meaning that if you’re only realising it’s coming up now, you still have time to book lunch.

Sharing a meal on the day with the ‘mum’ in your life, whether that’s your actual mum, your grandmother or even a family friend or other family member, not only shows them how much you appreciate them but also helps you both create new memories together.

Fortunately, if you’re in Sydney, when it comes to Mother’s Day lunch venues, you’re spoilt for choice. From beachfront restaurants that serve a side of sea view, to sky-high restaurants that let you look out over our beautiful city, ahead are our favourite spots to celebrate the motherly figure in your life among the many venues and menus.

RAFI, North Sydney

Here’s a unique Mother’s Day lunch offering: RAFI in North Sydney is doing complimentary professional photography on-site with every booking. Lunch starts from 12pm and is $150pp for adults and $40 for kids aged three to 12. On the menu are roasted sugarloaf cabbage, scampi with XO and butter and Wagyu boneless rib-eye.

Bopp & Tone

For Mother’s Day lunch in the city, head to Bopp & Tone in Wynyard Park. The venue will have a special set menu on the day for $110pp. Crafted by Chef Jordan Wijeadasa, it features tuna tartare, stuffed zucchini flowers, roasted market fish with lobster bisque and, to finish, meringue with seasonal berries.

North Bondi Fish, North Bondi

A special set Mother’s Day menu at North Bondi Fish, set at the end of Bondi below North Bondi RSL, comes with a side of direct sea views and colourful, photo-ready interiors. For $129pp and $30 for kids aged 12 and under, you’ll be treated to a share-style set menu of mud crab, market crudo and garlic and prawn skewers.

St Siandra, Mosman

Set on a strip of private beach in Mosman, St Siandra has Mediterranean Coast-themed interiors – think yellow walls, striped chair cushions and olive trees – that match its seafood and pasta-heavy menu. On Mother’s Day, the venue is running a $179pp, four-course menu, featuring favourites like potato flatbread and spiced cauliflower. The set menu also comes with a glass of Laurent Perrier NV Cuvee Champagne on arrival.

Nour, Surry Hills

Nour is known for its brunch, and its Mother’s Day version ($129pp) takes that up a notch with a three-course banquet menu by Head Chef Ibrahim Kasif, designed to be shared. Book the set menu until 3pm or order a la carte from 5pm.

Altitude at the Shangri-La, The Rocks

For dinner with a side of Sydney skyline views, book into Altitude on level 36 of the Shangri-La Hotel. The restaurant has Mother’s Day dinner on Sunday, May 11 for $249 for a window table and, with a wine pairing, an extra $155. The menu is five courses curated by Executive Sous Chef Michele Menegazzi and Head Pastry Chef Kumiko Endo. It includes Hiramasa tuna sashimi with heirloom beetroot and charcoal vinaigrette, and tagliolini with Mooloolaba pipis with Dashi emulsion and Shio Kombu.

AALIA, Martin Place

Another restaurant holding a special Mother’s Day lunch in the city is AALIA in Martin Place. There, your family can tuck into a three-course Middle Eastern feast Executive Chef Paul Farag at $150pp. Yamma’s Orchard, a light, floral drink with ESCA Plum, Marionette Peach, Lillet Blanc and soda, will complement the food. Mum will also be gifted a bouquet of flowers by the team.

Woodcut at Crown Sydney, Barangaroo

‘Beautiful ingredients, simply cooked’ is the ethos of Woodcut in Crown Sydney. On Mother’s Day, the restaurant will put on a special a la carte menu that uses locally-sourced produce and elemental cooking methods. The menu will feature Southern Rock lobster with garlic kombu and Fraser Island Crab cakes with oyster mayonnaise. Help Mum make a day of it by getting her a treatment at Crown Spa post-lunch.

Sailmaker Restaurant at Hyatt Regency, Darling Harbour

If the mum in your life is a seafood fan, take her to lunch or dinner at Sailmaker inside Hyatt Regency. The Seafood Lunch Buffet runs 12-3pm, with a spread of seafood, hot carving stations and desserts. Adults are $165pp and kids are $79.
