Your home’s already kitted out with the stuff, and now you have the chance to proudly wear your love of IKEA with a new range of clothing and accessories.
The Efterträda collection first launched in Japan in 2020. Designed in collaboration with IKEA Sweden, the capsule range was inspired by, and initially made for, the people of Tokyo.
Following an overwhelmingly popular launch, the collection was next brought over to IKEA stores in Singapore, Thailand and Korea. Today, IKEA announces Australia as the next country to receive the range on May 13.
The Efterträda collection, which takes its name from the Swedish word for ‘successor’, was originally designed to challenge whether apparel and accessories could be the next big step for IKEA. “Could our clothing and accessories line succeed our home furnishing solutions?” IKEA asked in a press release at the time.
IKEA fans will remember the furniture giant dropped a $3.50 bucket hat last year, but the Efterträda collection expands hugely on this with T-shirts, hoodies, water bottles, towels, tote bags and key rings adorned with the official IKEA logo as the main design.
Some of the pieces also feature a genuine IKEA barcode, which would bring up the information for the iconic Billy bookcase if scanned.
While high-end fashion brands and more affordable online retaier have long drawn inspiration from the IKEA branding to create viral clothing capsules and bootleg logo merch in the past, the Efterträda collection brings IKEA merch in-house.
“We’ve seen great excitement and demand for products like the Knorva bucket hat, so we’re very excited to be able to offer a complete and full apparel and accessories line for Australians”, says Maria Langford, IKEA Australia business leader.
The full Efterträda range will land in stores and online on May 13. A full price list can be found below.
