We’ve waited patiently for it and now our lives are enriched once more by the truly terrible people that are Succession‘s Roy family. And boy, have we missed them.
Season three of the acclaimed HBO series is now officially underway, with the first episode debuting on both BINGE and Foxtel on October 18, the same day as the US.
The season begins as Logan Roy (Brian Cox) is in crisis mode, after Kendall’s (latest) major betrayal of him at the end of season two. After being told by his father that he will never succeed him as the head of Waystar Royco because simply put, he is “not a killer”, Kendall (Jeremy Strong) proves his dad spectacularly wrong setting up a third season in which Logan is out for blood.
In case you need a refresher or are new to the show entirely, the plot revolves around the Roy family — one of the wealthiest in the world — who run Waystar RoyCo: a global media and hospitality empire. When the Roy patriarch, Logan, falls ill, his children begin vying for power as they fight for who will take control of the company. Needless to say, some shady business, backstabbing and double-dealing ensue.
Set in New York, the bitingly funny, critically acclaimed drama series explores themes of power, politics, money, and family, with the scheming Roy family taking centre stage.
Like many other shows, the newest season of Succession, which has won seven Emmy Awards since its debut, was delayed by the pandemic, so fans have been waiting almost two years to see what will unfold after the second season cliffhanger. The show’s delay meant that it was ineligible for nomination at the 2021 Emmy Awards, but will no doubt make up for it at the 2023 ceremony.
Succession‘s main cast have all returned for the third season including Brian Cox (Logan Roy), Emmy-winner Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy), Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy), Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy), Alan Ruck (Connor Roy), Nicholas Braun (Cousin Greg), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans) and J. Smith-Cameron (Gerri Kellman).
Joining the already impressive ensemble for season three are Oscar winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist) and Emmy winner Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies) along with Sanaa Lathan, Linda Emond, Jihae and Hope Davis.
