The Billboard Music Awards are just around the corner, and some of the biggest names in music are set to appear.

Celebrating another year in chart-topping hits, the Billboard Music Awards is one of the music industry’s biggest nights, featuring performances from some of our favourite artists.

This year, stars from Megan Thee Stallion to the Red Hot Chili Peppers will gather in Las Vegas for the glitzy ceremony, and we don’t want to miss out on anything.

Here’s everything you need to know about tuning into the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.

When are the 2022 Billboard Music Awards?

The Billboard Music Awards will take place on Sunday, May 15 at 8pm in the USA, which is 10am AEST on Monday, May 16th in Australia.

Where are the 2022 Billboard Music Awards held?

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards are being held in Las Vegas, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Who Is Hosting the 2022 Billboard Music Awards?

Sean Diddy Combs is hosting the Billboard Music Awards this year.

“This will be unlike any awards show — I’m bringing the love and setting the frequency at an all-time high,” the rapper turned mogul said in a statement.

“The Billboard Music Awards truly represent the artists and where music is today, so I’m excited to curate the biggest live performances and surprises. The world has to tune in to see.”

Who Is Performing at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards?

Performing at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards will be Silk Sonic, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, Miranda Lambert, Florence + The Machine, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, Maxwell, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The ceremony will mark Travis Scott’s first official performance since the Astroworld tragedy that left 10 people dead and hundreds more injured. Scott is currently facing a lawsuit of nearly 400 individually filed claims.

Also performing will be Oscar nominee Mary J. Blige, who is being honoured with the Billboard Icon Award.

“My career has been such an incredible and unexpected journey that has included many turns into avenues I never could have imagined like acting, producing, launching businesses and now even my own music festival,” Blige said in a statement last month.

“Through it all, I always one way or another gravitated back to my first love, music,” she continued. “To be recognised in this way at this moment, with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards, is an incredible honour and one that I am truly humbled by.”

Who is Nominated at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards?

With 17 nominations, The Weeknd is leading the nominees for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.

Following him is Doja Cat, who has 14 nominations, and then Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Olivia Rodrigo, who have 13 nods each.

Other notable nominees include Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, The Kid LAROI, Taylor Swift, and BTS.

How Can I Watch the 2022 Billboard Music Awards in Australia?

This is where things get a little tricky, unfortunately. Last year, the Billboard Music Awards aired live on SBS On Demand. This year, however, they don’t seem to be screening it, and neither do any of the other free to air networks, or even Foxtel.

This means that your best bet will be with a VPN, although getting access may still prove tricky.

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards are airing on NBC and Peacock in the US, which will possibly mean you need to have a registered American credit card or access to American cable to sign up, even with a VPN.

Still, if there’s a will, there’s a way, and we’re sure if anyone’s up for the task, it’s Australians. After all, we did once hold the dubious title of world’s worst Internet pirates.
