Want to Skate Like Tony Hawk? Learn Virtually from the Man Himself

Tony Hawk

Having Tony Hawk teach you skateboarding tricks virtually might seem like a dream but thanks to MasterClass, it’s now a reality.

‘Tony Hawk Teaches Skateboarding’ is the latest addition to the MasterClass archive — a streaming platform filled with educational videos taught by the best in the business.

Over 16 video lessons, Hawk will help you take your skateboarding to the next level. According to the MasterClass website, Hawk will be joined by skateboarding pros Lizzie Armanto and Riley Hawk and they will teach you “beginner, intermediate, and advanced tricks in street, park, and vert. Learn how to push yourself, get up when you fall, and find your own style. Start reaching new heights.”

Hawk turned pro at just 14-years-old and was the first skater to land a 900 at the X Games. He’s one of the most influential people in the industry and skateboarding wouldn’t look the same without him.

“Tony completely changed the world of skateboarding and we are excited to bring his class to life on Go Skateboarding Day,” said David Rogier, co-founder and CEO of MasterClass, in a statement.

“His MasterClass gives a rare look not only into his skating techniques but also into his life lessons that will do nothing less than inspire you.”

If you’ve never skateboarded before but are keen to try it, you basically can’t get any better than learning from Hawk himself. And, just know that failure is a necessary part of the process, according to Hawk.

“I believe that skateboarding has something to teach us all,” Hawk wrote on Instagram. “It’s about embracing failure and getting back up to try again. It’s also about learning to see the world around you differently. In my @MasterClass, I break down foundational skate tricks and some of my own signature moves for the very first time.”
