A threat that is even more furious than you’ve seen in eight other films is coming and some very familiar faces are back!
F9’s first trailer brings back some familiar faces including Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) sister, Mia (Jordana Brewster) and friend Han (Sung Kang) and introduces John Cena – making his Fast & Furious debut – as Dom’s little brother, a “master thief, assassin, high-performance driver”, Jacob.
The ninth chapter, directed by Justin Lin, in the more than $5 billion franchise also sees the return of stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and also stars Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren.
The trailer premiered at a massive fan event, The Road to F9, in Miami on January 31, alongside an epic once-in-a-lifetime concert that featured musical numbers by global superstars Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, Charlie Puth and Ozuna — as well as series multi-hyphenate Ludacris.
The multiplatform event was hosted by the Fast & Furious franchise’s very own Gibson with a special appearance by Diesel and director, Justin Lin and actors Rodriguez, Brewster and Nathalie Emmanuel.
“The heart of the Fast & Furious franchise has always been — and will always be — family, and it brings me so much joy that our extended family will be with us to help celebrate the launch of this chapter,” Vin Diesel said in a statement.
“We are nothing without our ride-or-die fans, and we are thrilled that they will be in Miami to welcome old- and new-school cast and crew, as well as usher in a brand-new era of Fast & Furious.”
F9 hits theatres on May 21 2020.
