All aboard the jungle cruise, guys.
Disney has released a new trailer for Jungle Cruise, a film inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride.
The adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition sees Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Jumanji) as a charismatic riverboat captain Frank and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place) as a determined explorer on a research mission, Lily Houghton.
“There is a legend in the jungles of the Amazon of a tree that heals all,” It can change the world,” Lily says. “But if it gets into the wrong hands it could awaken a great evil.”
The captain, however, doesn’t believe in such a legend because he’s been searching for it without success, however, Lily, who holds a very important key, is determined to find it.
“Just imagine the lives it could save,” she says.
The chemistry between Johnson and Blunt is what will see this movie succeed, along with the team that wrote it.
Co-written by Bad Santa‘s Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, and Blade Runner 2049‘s Michael Green, it’s definitely going to be a bit of fun for the whole family.
There are elephants (“Who doesn’t love elephants?”), a mystical tree, treacherous villains, and of course, the river — a recipe for the perfect Disney jaunt.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (House of Wax, Orphan, The Shallows), the film also stars Paul Giamatti (Billions) as a “crusty harbourmaster”, Jesse Plemons (The Irishman) — whose villainous character attacks the Captain’s boat with a submarine (“Who brings a submarine to the Amazon?”), Jack Whitehall (Travels with my Father) and Edgar Ramirez (American Crime Story).
The film is produced by Dwayne Johnson, John Davis, John Fox, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, and Beau Flynn, with Doug Merrifield serving as executive producer.
Disney’s Jungle Cruise hits cinemas on July 23, 2020.
