Last year, Providoor emerged from the Delia Group, delivering tasty, fresh restaurant meals to Melburnians. Today, Providoor has over 30 restaurants participating, and creating chef-prepared meals with ‘finish at home’ style dishes. Now, Sydney has its own Providoor thanks to ChefPrep, a new online marketplace and meal delivery service.
Unlike other ready-made meals, ChefPrep allows you to order weekly frozen ready-made meals from Sydney restaurants. It’s that easy. The best part, you don’t need to opt into a plan. Simply choose the meals you want and they will be delivered the next week.
There are a lot of meals to choose from, including butter chicken from Delhi ‘O’ Delhi, chicken pie from Huxton’s at Bronte, and Thai green chicken curry from STIX. They are always partnering with restaurants, so expect to see a lot more. The current restaurants you can buy from include, Huxton’s at Bronte, STIX, I Maccheroni and Delhi ‘O’ Delhi. Confirmed restaurant partners coming onboard very soon include Olio in Chippendale, Butter Sydney, Bellevue Cottage, Little Lagos, Bondi Hardware, LODE Surry Hills (by LuMi), Foodie del Mar, Casa Mia Osteria, De Vine Food & Wine, Albi’s Taverna, Longchin and Mordeo with more to come.
How does ChefPrep work?
It’s easy to order through ChefPrep. Simply choose the meals you want and order by 5:30 pm on Friday for delivery the next Monday. You can also choose a delivery time window, from 12 am to 8 am and 8 am to 5 pm. Most meals are single-serve and cost anywhere between $16.50 to $20.63 each. The cost depends on the meal and where it’s coming from.
Like other meal delivery services, you will receive a box with your chosen meals, packed with ice packs to keep them cool. Put them straight into the freezer or let them defrost in the fridge if you want it the next day.
Each meal is specifically designed to last in the freezer for up to six months, without compromising on taste. Once you’re ready to eat, simply follow the instructions on the packet. Some meals require 20 or so minutes in the oven.
How does ChefPrep help restaurants?
ChefPrep is also directly supporting the NSW hospitality industry, who already crippled from the first lockdown are again unable to serve customers in their venues. Those that can pivot to take away have done so in an attempt to keep their hard-hit businesses open, but traditional delivery services take huge commissions, eroding any real profit the restaurant makes. This way, chefs and restaurants have revenue streams for their businesses, which is needed now more than ever.
How does ChefPrep control waste?
A great benefit of using ChefPrep is the meals are delivered in biodegradable, environmentally friendly and recyclable packaging which is freezer, oven and microwave safe. No more plastic film, or plastic containers.
ChefPrep currently services Sydney Metropolitan, NSW Central Coast, NSW Newcastle, NSW Blue Mountains and NSW Wollongong Coast.
