Bruce Willis has retired from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a rare brain condition that affects cognitive ability.
The actor’s family made the announcement via a statement posted to social media which read: “To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.
“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
With an impressive catalogue that spans decades, Willis, 66, is one of the most recognisable actors in Hollywood.
Aside from being one of the most successful action stars of all time, Willis has received numerous accolades during his career, including a Golden Globe, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and two People’s Choice Awards. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
