Book This “Secret” Sydney Spot For an Extra-Special Mother’s Day Lunch

Bopp and Tone Mothers Day

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the mums in our lives and show them how much we appreciate them. While a gift is great, a lunch or dinner on the day — where you can vocalise your appreciation and create special memories — can be even better.

One great option for a venue in Sydney is Bopp and Tone in Wynyard Park. The venue has a special Mother’s Day set menu created by Chef Jordan Wijeadasa for $110pp for lunch from 11:30am or the option to order a la carte.

The set menu features stuffed zucchini flowers, roasted market fish fillet with lobster bisque and, to finish, meringue with seasonal berries. It’s served share-style and also includes prosciutto di Parma, grilled king prawns and tuna tartare with whipped tahini, seaweed salsa and, for a spicy kick, wasabi peas. Kids can choose from specials.

If you’re not familiar with Bopp and Tone, it was recently described by Esquire Australia as Sydney’s best-kept secret. It’s tucked away off Carrington Street with interiors inspired by post-war nostalgia and a lived-in luxury feel. Designed by award-winning design firm Luchetti Krelle, it showcases a mix of textures and materials like marble, leather and velvet.

“Bopp and Tone is a nod to our grandfathers who symbolise and embody the iconic and nostalgic Sydney of the past,” says Ben Carroll, the venue’s co-owner. “Food influences come from our chef’s passion for Mediterranean food and philosophies that translate so well with Aussie ingredients and our way of life.

The menu was created by group executive chef Patrick Friesen, in collaboration with head chef Wijeadasa. Its ethos is generously portioned, share-style food with Mediterranean influences, mostly cooked on a wood grill or in a charcoal oven.

Most dishes use seasonal produce, much of it seafood and cured and cooked meats. The venue’s signature dishes are Australian king prawns with fermented chilli, grilled scallops and rib-eye from Riverine, NSW.
