Everything You Need to Know About ‘Bill and Ted Face the Music’

Bill and Ted

In 1989, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure hit theatres and we were introduced to two metalhead teens who embarked on a wild time-travelling adventure.

Starring Keanu Reeves — whose career skyrocketed after the film — and Alex Winter, the film was as funny as it was imaginative.

In 1991, a sequel to the film was released. Bill and Ted’s Bogus Adventure featured aliens, God, the Grim Reaper and androids. While it was every kid’s dream, the film didn’t play out the way the filmmakers wanted and any ideas for a third one were promptly parked. Until now…

Bill and Ted Face the Music is the third instalment of the popular franchise.

Set to be released in Australian cinemas on September 10, 2020, the film is bringing the leads back — but this time, with teenagers of their own.

So, before you head to the theatre to check it out, here’s everything we already know about Bill and Ted Face the Music.

The Plot

The stakes are higher than ever for the time-travelling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan. Yet to fulfil their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends – to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.

In the trailer, we see them concoct a plan to steal the “best song ever” and claim it for themselves — however, being the pair of doofuses they are, it’s not without some hiccups.

The pair work with their families, old friends, famous musicians, and each other to complete the task — alongside the mystical phone booth.

The Cast

Returning cast includes Reeves as Ted and Winter as Bill with newcomers to the franchise Australia’s Samara Weaving (Hollywood) as Bill’s daughter Thea Preston and Bridget Lundy-Paine (ATypical) as Ted’s daughter, Billie.

Also returning is William Sadler as Death, Hal Landon Jr as Ted’s dad and Amy Stoch as his step-mum.

Being middle-aged, both men are now married. Bill’s wife, Joanna, is played by Jama Mayes (Glee) while Erinn Hayes (Medical Police), plays Ted’s wife Elizabeth.

Other cast members include SNL’s Beck Bennett, Kid Cudi will play himself and the film’s main villain will be played by Barry’s Anthony Carrigan.
