My pals, we have a winner. Everything Everywhere All at Once (EEAO) has won the beloved Best Picture Award at the 2023 Oscars.
The film, which was directed by both Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, crushed the following flicks:
- Top Gun: Maverick
- Elvis
- Tár
- Avatar: The Way of Water
- The Banshees of Inisherin
- All Quiet on the Western Front
- The Fabelmans
- Women Talking
- Triangle of Sadness
This Best Picture win was not a huge surprise, as the film was hotly tipped to score said award. Not only is this movie a transcendental roller coaster of film-making but it also won six other Oscars. Just to name a few of them, Michelle Yeoh won for Best Actress, Jamie Lee Curtis won for Best Supporting Actress, and Ke Huy Quan won for Best Supporting Actor.
During the Best Picture acceptance speech, Jonathan Wang, the Producer of EEAO, thanked his “brilliant and bighearted cast and crew.”
“This feels incredible,” said Wang.
“Thank you to the Academy, A24, thank you so much. You saw our weirdness and supported us for a year theatrically.”
