Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Unbreakable Bond in Bad Boys For Life

Bad Boys For Life is heading to cinemas on January 16 and with it, another installment from the lives of our favourite dynamic duo – Marcus Burnett and Detective Mike Lowery.

And while the franchise itself is set to bring avid fans back, it’s the unbreakable, and oftentimes, unmistakable bond of it’s leading men, Martin Lawrence (Burnett) and Will Smith (Mike Lowery) – that is sure to make it a box office success.

It’s been over a decade since we saw our dynamic duo fighting crimes – but if the trailer is anything to go by it’s like no time has passed at all.

And if you don’t believe us, just ask Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), one of the new cast members from Bad Boys for Life.

“I really hope that one day I can look at my wife the way that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence look at each other.”

But Smith and Lawrence know they’ve still got it – and their chemistry is as strong as ever.

“It’s so interesting when you come back together on a movie after this long, there’s such a deep love for these characters and for the franchise,” Smith said during a Bad Boys For Life interview.

The first Bad Boys film was made twenty-three years ago (1995), and as Smith says, it’s just “crazy”.

“Well, I’m a lot heavier now,” Lawrence joked without skipping a beat.

Both Smith and Lawrence were excited to get back on-set, with and for Lawrence, 54, telling his co-star that he just wanted “to get back with you and do it.”

“People need to see us together on camera,” he added.

Describing their characters as “the yin and the yang”, the pair agreed that this time around, they were ready to just “ride with it”.

“It’s rare but it’s beautiful to be able to come back together and everybody’s still handsome,” Smith joked – the two breaking into fits of laughter.

“That’s why we have chemistry, because you say stuff like that!” Lawrence told him.

Bad Boys for Life hits Australian theatres on January 16, 2020.
