Fast cars, police chases, explosions, and that very famous song — Bad Boys is back, baby — and so are our favourite odd couple cop pairing. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have reunited for “one last time” with Bad Boys For Life.
The second sequel, which has come sixteen years since Bad Boys and Bad Boys II, sees Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) team up once again, when a revenge-seeking bad guy comes looking for them.
While it’s been a long time coming, the relationship and chemistry between the two actors is still top notch, including the pair’s famous funny banter.
So, yes — they’re back, but something is very awry.
Lowrey says he will be “running down criminals until I’m 100”, however his partner, Burnett is ready to retire.
“What happened to Bad Boys for life?” Smith’s Lowrey asks. And yeah, Burnett. What happened?
Mike has always been the action man (his nickname is “Trigger”), while his partner is a loyal family man and this is where the decision to leave the force comes from.
Unfortunately it looks like his retirement is about to stick, as we are introduced to new recruits coming on board.
The “high school musical boy band with guns” features Vanessa Hudgens (literally from the High School Musical franchise), Alexander Ludwig (Vikings) and Charles Melton (Riverdale).
Mike Lowrey may be looking for a new partner, but that doesn’t stop the OG pair from one last rodeo.
Taking over for original director Michael Bay, who worked on the first two films, are Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
