‘The Bad Batch’ and a Star Wars-Themed ‘Simpsons’ Short Mark May the 4th on Disney+

May the 4th be with you Star Wars and Simpsons fans!

To celebrate this most exalted of days Disney+ is adding the Star Wars-themed Simpsons short The Force Awakens From Its Nap to its library, centring on the youngest member of everyone’s favourite family — Maggie.

The short is being added along with the previously announced animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch in time for Star Wars Day 2021 — landing on the Australian platform at 5pm AEDT.

The Bad Batch follows the adventures of the squad of experimental clones — first introduced in The Clone Wars — as they navigate a post-Clone War galaxy. The troopers will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find a new purpose.

Meanwhile, the synopsis for Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens From Its Nap’ reads as follows: “In a daycare far, far away… but still in Springfield, Maggie is on an epic quest for her stolen pacifier. Her adventure brings her face-to-face with young Padawans, Sith Lords, familiar droids, Rebel scum, and an ultimate battle against the dark side, in this original short celebrating the Star Wars galaxy.”

Additionally, Disney+ will pay homage to the Star Wars community with a platform take over featuring commissioned original artwork by a group of global artists and Star Wars fans.

To commemorate May the Fourth, Lucasfilm and Disney+ worked with each artist to identify what title most resonated with them and create unique pieces that brought to life visually the magic of the story.

The artwork celebration will continue on the platform from Tuesday, May 4th until Saturday, May 9th with each movie and series’ illustrations updated to feature the original one-of-a-kind artwork.

“We are constantly challenging ourselves to create experiences that engage fans more deeply and creatively with the Disney+ user interface,” said Jerrell B Jimerson, EVP of Products & Design at Disney+.

Whenever they open the app, we want viewers to feel like they are entering a truly unique Disney experience. For this year’s “May the 4th,” we teamed up with Lucasfilm to celebrate the fans that make this day possible by showcasing multiple pieces of impressive fan art created by the Star Wars community on Disney+.”
