TRIGGER WARNING: This article contains references to cannibalism and physical and emotional abuse.
It was only a few months ago when Armie Hammer was praised for his role in Netflix film, Rebecca, opposite Lily James. He was also due to appear in a number of high profile projects including the sequel to Call Me By Your Name opposite Timothee Chalamet.
Now, it’s all gone.
The Actor Is Removed From Cold War drama Billion Dollar Spy
Update: March 30, 2021
The final film that remained on Hammer’s slate was Amma Asante’s Billion Dollar Spy, in which the actor was due to appear opposite Mads Mikkelsen.
Hammer’s removal from the project — in the wake of continued allegations of sexual abuse — means that every studio that was in business with Hammer, prior to the allegations, has now officially cut ties with the actor.
The move to cut Hammer from his last project comes as media scrutiny has amplified around the Call Me By Your Name star after his former partner went public with her accusation of rape.
During a virtual press conference held on March 18, Hammer’s ex-girlfriend, known only as Effie, alleged that Hammer was guilty of rape and physical abuse during their four-year relationship and that she had feared for her life.
“On April 24, 2017, Armie Hammer violently raped me for over four hours in Los Angeles, during which he repeatedly slapped my head against a wall, bruising my face,” Effie said. “He also committed other acts of violence against me to which I did not consent.”
Hammer and his attorneys have denied the allegations, however, Variety confirmed that the actor is being investigated by the LAPD.
Hammer Dropped by Talent Agency and Publicist
Update: February 8, 2021
Armie Hammer’s talent agency, WME, has decided to drop the actor according to multiple reports.
Entertainment site Variety said over the weekend that his personal publicist has also stepped away.
Back in January, Hammer stepped away from his latest project, Shotgun Wedding (which also starred Jennifer Lopez) and according to Variety, was asked to step back from another film, The Offer.
In 2021, Hammer will also appear in finished projects, Crisis opposite Gary Oldman and Evangeline Lily, and Disney’s Death on the Nile, opposite Gal Gadot and Kenneth Branagh. He also has a minor part in Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins in 2022.
What Happened In His Marriage to Elizabeth Chalmers?
Back in July 2020, Hammer’s “private” life was shared out in the open revealing that his marriage to Elizabeth Chalmers was ending after a decade.
“Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage,” a caption on each of their Instagram’s read.
Two months prior, Chalmers had shared an anniversary post to her husband, saying how grateful she was “for you, this decade, our family and the dreamiest Friday night anniversary sunset,” but in an instant, it was over.
The pair, who share two children, Harper, 5, and Ford, 3, had been quarantining together and Hammer told British GQ in September that quarantining during the pandemic caused complications.
“It was a very complicated, intense situation, with big personalities all locked in a little tiny place… I’d never dealt with anything like that before in my life, so I didn’t have the tools,” he said.
What Allegations Have Been Made Against Him?
While we’re not doubting that what Hammer said is true, new and alleged information about The Social Network actor is painting a disturbing and shocking picture of the 34-year-old.
In screenshots obtained by Twitter user Tevin, which were leaked publicly by a now-private account, House of Effie, showed Instagram images of his official handle and messages from the account.
Tevin alleged in his tweet that “multiple victims” of the actor came out saying “he used his fame to manipulate” them for sex while calling them “kitties”. He also alluded to cannibalism, saying that he wanted to “drink their blood”.
Other messages began circulating the internet with Hammer reportedly writing: “I’ve cut the heart out of a living animal before and eaten it while still warm,” and “I’m 100% a cannibal”.
“F**k. That’s scary to admit,” he wrote. “I’ve never admitted that before.”
On January 10, House of Effie then “admitted” that “it’s all fake,” adding, “But it was funny wasn’t it?” before standing by her original claims and alleging the following day that Armie’s “crazy fans went so far as to fake a DM by me.”
Armie Hammer Makes a Statement on the “Bullsh-t” Claims
On January 14, Hammer came forward with a statement obtained by Variety.
“I’m not responding to these bullshit claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that,” Hammer said in a statement, referring to his Shotgun Wedding role.
A representative for the production followed his statement by saying: “Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
Hammer’s Ex-Girlfriend Calls Him a “Very Dark, Twisted Person”
On January 15, Hammer’s ex-girlfriend, Courtney Vucekovich, a Dallas-based app founder, told the Daily Mail she had met the actor through mutual friends and said that from the beginning he was very “intoxicating.”
“He’s a very charming, intense human being,” she told the outlet, before adding that once you “start talking to him, he’s pretty aggressive right from the start.”
Vucekovich reiterated that he was “not violent, but just sexually aggressive in the way he speaks.”
Calling him “magnetic”, she said that this magnetism helped him “get away with this stuff.”
“He’s a very charming, larger-than-life personality. He’s very affectionate, he makes you feel very safe and kind of on top of the world. Then little by little, it gets deeper and darker.”
The 30-year-old then explained that Hammer would then become “obsessed with you” and that it becomes “a little strange.”
“And little by little you’re like, ‘what’s happened?'” she said. “It’s very heavy. I just learned the word ‘lovebomb’ and that’s definitely what he does.”
The designer also shared a written note that the Hotel Mumbai to the Daily Mail which said, “I’m going to bite the f–k out of you” with his signature.
Hammer “Kept Mannequins in the Basement of His Family Home” According to Ex-Partner
Another former partner of Hammer came forward on January 25, calling her romance with the actor “deeply traumatic” and said that he left her with emotional and physical scars.
Speaking to The Sun, 22-year-old Paige Lorenze alleged that Hammer learned how to tie women up by practicing on mannequins he had stored at his home he shared with Chalmers.
“He told me that he had mannequins in his basement in his family home that Elizabeth and him were living at to practice rope tying on,” she told the outlet.
“It creeped me out, honestly. It was really strange. I’d never even heard of anything like that before.”
According to the Instagram model, Hammer also had spoken about killing his dog and even said to her, “I would have strangled him if you weren’t here.”
In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Lorenze said that Hammer had etched an “A” into her skin near her groin area and would hit her with paddles.
She also claimed that he “loved” that she was younger (by 12 years) and that “he always had me wear lingerie and tied me up.”
“I just kind of agreed to it and let it happen, I was just trying to please him,” she said.
“He would say things like: ‘I want to bite a piece of your skin off and eat it,’ he would bite me so hard. Sometimes it would basically break the skin.”
The model said she wasn’t trying to “kink shame” Hammer, instead that “dangerous men [sometimes] use this as like a smokescreen for abusing and hurting women for their own sexual pleasure.
“I am holding him accountable and I think he knows that he’s caused a lot of women pain, even if he doesn’t want to admit it right now. And there is power in numbers.”
Following this, another alleged lover, Nastya D, shared screenshots of messages the actor had reportedly sent her, including a mannequin wrapped in red rope with a leash.
“I was thinking about how perfect your —- are and I tried to come up with a chest harness that had a handle in the middle of your perfect —-… oh, and a —- knot,” the message read.
Movie Houses Begin to Pull His Projects
Pop culture Instagram account Deux Moi shared anonymous tips on January 14, saying that Hammer was being ousted from upcoming projects.
We’re not confirming this is a fact as the account disclaimer says that “statements made on this account have not been independently confirmed” nor “does not claim any information published is based in fact,” however, they are known to have reliable sources — even posting about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s separation before it was announced.
According to one source, “20th Century studios are brainstorming a way to replace Armie by reshooting his scenes or using CGI,” however, “a powerful branch of the studio wants to profit from the drama.”
Another source says that he was supposed to star in a rom-com with Jennifer Lopez and that the production is now “actively looking for a replacement” while another says his “team” are deciding on a course of action.
Footage of Hammer Surfaces
Before Hammer released a statement, videos obtained by the Daily Mail show some increasingly odd and concerning behaviour. In the footage, the star was seen opening a beer while driving and licking a substance off of his friend’s hand.
While the information we are receiving is disturbing, we do hope for Hammer’s (and his family’s) sake that if he needs help in any way, that he will be afforded the support that he requires.
